Traffic Engineering is the application of technology and
scientific principles to the planning, functional design,
operation, and management of traffic facilities.
The goal of Traffic Engineering is to provide for the safe,
expeditius, comfortable, convenient, economical, and environmentally
compatible movement of people (including pedestrians, bicycles, motorcyles) and goods.
Traffic Engineering deals with the planning, geometric design,
traffic operations, and maintenance of roads, streets, highways, sidewalks, bike trails,
and their networks and terminals.
